The Basics on Kalooki 40

Kalooki 40 is a special variant of Kalooki, a specific type of Rummy game. The original Kalooki game is actually called Kalooki 51 so that the 51 and the 40 versions would be differentiated. Kalooki is a very distinct type of Rummy game. Though it is indeed a Rummy game that retains the draw, meld, discard, and collect points structure, Kalooki barely has any other similarities to the original Rummy game left. It actually has more differences than similarities, which give Rummy lovers greater variety so they will not get bored playing the same old Rummy games using the same old rules. Kalooki, especially the 40 version, is definitely a must-try especially if you avidly like Rummy games. It will definitely take your interest in Rummy games to an entirely new level.

How to Play Kalooki 40

Here’s how the Kalooki 40 game goes. The game uses two standard 52-card decks, plus two Jokers, so there will be 106 cards in all. At the start of the game, each of the players will be dealt 13 cards. The King cards are called the Four Suits. The cards from two to ten are taken at their face values. The face cards are worth ten points each. In Kalooki, unlike in other Rummy games, the Aces are valuable. In this game, each Ace card is worth eleven points, higher even than face cards. Finally, the Joker is worth 25 points. After all the players get their cards, the rest of the cards on the deck are placed facing downwards on the table, forming the stock pile. The first card from it is then placed facing upwards on the table as well, forming the discard pile. Every time you take a turn, you need to draw a card, meld cards, and discard one card. In Kalooki 40, you need to lay down at least one meld if you draw from the discard pile. Also, your melds should have a value of at least 40 for the first meld to be laid down. It is at this point that the 40 version of Kalooki differs from the other game called Kalooki 51. In Kalooki 51, instead of just 40, the first meld to be laid down by a player should have a value of at least 51. Every player is required to draw and discard, but each of them can undertake their own melding strategies freely. As the game goes by, the stock pile may get depleted. At this point, the discard pile will be shuffled and placed face down on the table, so it becomes a stock pile.

Why Kalooki 40 Stands Out

Kalooki 40, which is also called Kaluki, stands out from among all the other variants of Rummy games because it just so happens to be far more exciting than most. Unlike in other Rummy variants where you can only meld, in Kalooki, you can also build. Aside from forming your own melds, you can also build on the already existing melds by adding to them. You can build on your melds and also the melds of other players once they have been laid down on the table. You can also use the Joker to build. Also, an interesting addition to the Kalooki game that demands attention is the presence of the Joker in the game. The role of the Joker in the Kalooki game is very important. Getting a Joker will definitely change your game. The Joker can be used to substitute for any missing card in a meld. If you fail to use the Joker for some reason, it will cost you 25 points at the end of the game.

Winning in Kalooki 40

Winning in Kalooki 40 comes in the form of two strategies: Going Out and Going Kalooki. Going Out is a move wherein you are able to meld all your cards except one last card, which you discard. Going Kalooki, on the other hand, is a move wherein you lay down all your cards in just one sweep. When you are able to execute this move, your opponents will get 25 points penalty each. And to keep from being left with all your cards still in your hands, lay down your melds as you form them. Once a player calls a winning move, the play immediately ends, and you will get no chance to lay down your melded cards anymore.e online version of this great game will definitely pump up your days.
